i am patient? i am kind?
throughout the Bible we really see something so clearly, that God defines what love is, what it is to love and what it is to be loved.
1 John even goes to say that God IS love.
in 1 corinthians 13:4-8 we see another explanation of what love is. more of the qualities and characteristics of love. what love is and what love isn’t.
love is patient, love is kind. it does not envy, it does not boast. it is not proud. it is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. it always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. love never fails.
since the Bible states that God is love, and here are the descriptions of said love, it would be possible to replaces all the loves in this scripture to “God”

i would say that this is an accurate description of God’s character.
in our lives we strive to live and love as Jesus did. a man, who was God in the flesh, who came to this world and showed a love that had never been shown before. he was actually living it out, this guy!
but what would it look like to truly live like him. what would it look like to return to this scripture and replaces all the loves with our own names.

its humbling. really really humbling. am i really all of those things? do i really live out these words in my daily life? what would it look like to truly live out these simple words day-to-day?

a good reminder of what i should be acting as | be more like the God who created me | instead of being what the world thinks as good…
